FULTON, MS -- Itawamba Community College head softball coach Andy Kirk announced the addition of a Sunday doubleheader against Snead State Community College on Friday after the game was origianlly scheduled for Saturday, but was moved due to lack of umpires available to call the game.
"We were real fortunate to be able to add this game to our schedule," said Kirk. "We missed our first two games of the season due to weather and the girls have really been anxious to get the season rolling so hopefully this will help us get the season kick started with a couple of wins."
The Lady Indians (0-1-1, 0-0 MACJC) were scheduled to play Jones County Junior College and Illinois Central College in Ellisville on Saturday, but the games were officially cancelled on Thursday afternoon.
"We were excited about playing teams to the caliber of Jones and Illinois Central," Kirk commented. "They both made a deep run in the playoffs last season and would have been a good measuring stick to see where we needed to be to be able to make that kind of run this season."
The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. in Boaz, Alabama.
The Lady Indians will travel to Jackson State Community College on Monday, February 25 before hosting Jones County Junior College in their home opener on Thursday, February 28 at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
