FULTON, MS –The No. 19 Itawamba Community College men's tennis program picked up their fifth consecutive win on Friday as they defeated Hinds Community College 9-0.
In only their second home match of the season, the Indians (5-2) made quick work of the Eagles by holding them to only 11 game wins over 15 sets.
The teams of Austin McElwain (Corinth) and David McElwain (West Point) and Mark Robbins (New Albany) and Joseph Summers (Amory) picked up 8-0 wins in doubles to start the day.
Nathaniel Pinkney (Southaven) and Cody Coins (Millington, TN) finished the doubles sweep for the Indians with an 8-1 victory.
Austin McElwain, Pinkney, Robbins and Ballard all picked up singles wins while only giving up one game each. The quartet of 6-0, 6-1 wins propelled the Indians to victory, but 6-1, 6-2 win by David McElwain and Coins finished the clean sweep of the Eagles.
The Indians will finished out the week with a 10 a.m. showdown on Saturday with Co-Lin at Johnson-Partlow Courts.
