FULTON, MS – The honors continue to pile up for sophomore linebacker Deryck Gildon after his performance last week in Itawamba Community College's 22-10 win over Southwest Mississippi Community College.
After earning Indian Club Student-Athlete of the Week and Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Defensive Player of the Week honors, Gildon has been selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Defensive Player of the Week.
"It's a great honor," said Gildon. "I was shocked when the coaches told me the news. All around campus today a lot of people were telling me congratulations and good job and I was thinking it was for the win this past week, but it's a great honor to be named Defensive Player of the week."
