FULTON, MS -- Sophomore linebacker Deryck Gildon (Arlington, TX) earned Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Defensive Player of the week honors for his performance in the Indians' 22-10 win over Southwest Mississippi Community College.
Gildon recorded 11 tackles (10 solo, 1 assist) and returned a fumble 62 yards for a touchdown to spark a 22-point third quarter to help the Indians improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2007 when ICC advanced to the semifinals of MACJC State playoffs.
Last week freshamn QB Andrew Goodman (Charlotte, NC) was named MACJC Offensive Player of the Week in the Indians' season opening win over East Central Community College.
ICC will travel to Mississippi Delta Community College on Thursday to open North Divisison play with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
