FULTON, Miss. – Brody Thompson delivered a performance most only dream about and the MACCC took notice.
The Mooreville native was named MACCC Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday, after setting ICC's modern-day record for home runs in a single game against No. 4 Jones on Saturday.
Thompson got things started in the third inning with a solo shot to right field. He followed it up in the fourth with a two-run blast to center, then added a third homer in the sixth—this time to left.
He saved the most memorable swing for last.
In the bottom of the ninth, Thompson capped off his historic day with a walk-off solo home run to left, sealing an 11–10 Game 1 victory for the Indians and cementing his place in the program's record books.
The Indians will close out the regular season on Wednesday, April 29, traveling to Perkinston for a twinbill against Gulf Coast. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
