Randolph signs with the Mississippi State baseball program

Itawamba Community College head baseball coach Rick Collier announced sophomore catcher Zack Randolph of Amory has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the Mississippi State University Bulldogs next season.

"Mississippi State is getting a good one," said Collier. "Zack has worked really hard to improve his game and to get stronger, but he also works just as hard in the classroom. He's the type of player that coaches wish they could have a roster full of guys like him." 

Randolph had a .961 fielding percentage and threw out 22 of 27 base stealers while batting .283 with 15 RBI, six doubles, six runs scored to go along with his .333 on-base percentage to help lead ICC to a second place finish in the North and the opening round of the MACJC playoffs as a freshman. 

"I'm real excited about signing with MSU," said Randolph. "Playing for an SEC school is big time and I'm just thankful for this opportunity."

The Amory High School graduate signing with the Bulldogs makes it 10-straight years at least one player from the ICC baseball program has signed with a SEC school, a mark unmatched by any other community college in the state.

"It's a really good program to come to be successful and help you be able to continue your baseball career," Randolph said about the ICC baseball program. "Coach Collier and Coach (Alex) Williamson do a great job getting the best out of me and the rest of the guys to have opportunities to play big time ball on the next level."

The Indians finished 25-19 last season and will open the 2012 campaign when they host John C Calhoun Community College in a doubleheader schedule for February 11.
